UtahPresents seeks a driven, enthusiastic Development Coordinator to help grow and sustain its community of funders. The Development Coordinator will support the planning and implementation of a fundraising program that creates multiple ways for individuals, corporations, foundations, and other entities to fuel the mission-driven work of UtahPresents. Primary responsibilities include event planning and execution, donor communications and stewardship, Advisory Board coordination, database management, and other administrative projects.

UtahPresents has the potential to grow its fundraising program significantly, making this position ideal for someone looking to launch or advance a career in development. The role requires someone organized and detail-oriented with strong communication and interpersonal skills. The salary range is $50,000 – $55,000. The Development Coordinator primarily works from UtahPresents' offices at Kingsbury Hall, as they are an active participate in programming and daily operations. Flexibility exists to work remotely at times, as agreed to by supervisor. The hours vary and will include some evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

1. Spearhead special events
  • Conceptualize, plan, and execute 8-10 special events each year including pre-performance receptions and the annual season launch party
  • Grow UtahPresents new Industry Nights program, which aims to connect the organization with different professional communities in the Salt Lake area
  • Create guest lists and invitations, manage RSVPs, arrange catering and other event logistics, organize and participate in set-up and break-down
  • Coordinate with the operations team to ensure smooth execution of events
2. Engage in donor communications including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
  • Regularly communicate with UtahPresents supporters to facilitate and enhance their experience with the organization
  • Arrange and attend meetings and other in-person engagements with current and prospective donors
  • Draft proposals, appeals, gift agreements, and reports
  • Prepare annual fund and special campaign mailings
  • Oversee and fulfill sponsor benefits such as public recognition, reserved parking, and complimentary tickets
  • Manage donor acknowledgment processes and write thank you notes
3. Serve as staff liaison to the Advisory Board
  • Schedule and attend meetings, take minutes, prepare materials, manage follow up, and provide additional administrative support as needed
  • Serve as the Social Committee's primary point of contact on the staff, helping plan and execute special events
  • Support the Fundraising Committee and help ensure the Advisory Board meets their annual fundraising goal
  • Facilitate Advisory Board recruitment, including growing the Board Emeritus, and onboarding
4. Contribute to fundraising strategy
  • Conduct research about prospective funders
  • Identify fundraising opportunities
  • Help shape messaging for campaigns and solicitations
5. Lead database management
  • Manage the administrative functions of Unite, University of Utah's donor relationship management software (create gift plans, maintain donor records, generate lists and reports, coordinate with other campus fundraisers)
  • Enter donations received through UtahPresents ticketing system, Spektrix, into Unite
  • As appropriate, enter donor information into Spektrix and utilize software to enhance donor prospecting, cultivation, and stewardship
Other responsibilities include:
  • Adhere to University of Utah's prospect and donor management standards and practices
  • Represent UtahPresents at appropriate campus and community meetings/events
  • Participate in UtahPresents programming with a focus on enhancing the experience of donors at performances, events, classes, and other activities
  • Participate in trainings and other professional development opportunities

Minimum Qualifications

MINUMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience (One year of education is equivalent to two years of experience).
  • Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Passionate about the mission of UtahPresents
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work enthusiastically with a wide range of individuals to foster productive partnerships and relationships
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Highly organized; capable of prioritizing and managing multiple projects/relationships simultaneously; attention to detail and follow-through
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office and an ability to learn development and ticketing specific software
  • Analytical skills, good judgment, and sensitivity including with regards to confidential information
Preferences
  • Prior fundraising or customer service experience
  • Knowledge of the arts industry, specifically performing arts and arts education
