Description

The Thomas Jefferson Center for the Study of Core Texts and Ideas (the Great Books undergraduate program at The University of Texas at Austin) seeks candidates for a full-time nontenured position as Assistant or Associate Professor of Instruction for the 2024-25 academic year, with a possibility of renewal for one or more subsequent years. The course load is three courses each semester, two of which may be sections of the same course. Teaching is needed for our core course, “The Bible and Its Interpreters,” and for other courses in great texts of religious thought.

The Center may also have additional full-time or part-time teaching needs, especially in ancient philosophy and literature, modern political philosophy, and American political thought.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. in the liberal arts with a focus on one or more great books; and some record of teaching excellence.
