The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine seeks applicants for the position of Lecturer in Large Animal Anesthesia in the Department of Clinical Studies - New Bolton Center, starting July 1, 2024, or thereafter as soon as a successful candidate is identified. The position is renewable annually for a total period of 3 years based on satisfactory performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Clinical responsibilities include primary anesthesia care and supervision of anesthetic management of equine and other large animal patients, including research animals, by students, interns, residents, and veterinary technicians and involves participation in out-of-hours anesthesia coverage. The candidate is expected to participate in the academic program of the Section of Large Animal Anesthesia including didactic and laboratory teaching of veterinary students, interns, residents, and technicians/technician trainees.

BENEFITS: A full-time benefit package will be offered, including 22 days of vacation per year and aid for attending one professional meeting annually. If applicable, in the first year of appointment, a 3-month period of off-clinic time will be granted to prepare for the ACVAA/ECVAA board examination. Otherwise, this period will be offered to pursue a clinical research project or to engage in extracurricular or CE teaching initiatives. Off-clinic time in subsequent years to engage in scholarly activities is negotiable.



Qualifications
Requirements include a VMD/DVM/equivalent degree and board certification in veterinary anesthesiology (ACVAA or ECVAA) or eligibility to sit the examination. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
