Department Summary:

The UNT Career Center is responsible for the career development and employment of all UNT students and alumni. It has responsibility for all Career Readiness, Coaching, and Education, Student Employment, Internships, and Post-Graduate Employment of UNT students. The Career Center operates as a centralized department with a decentralized approach and sustains collaborative partnerships with academic colleges, student affairs departments, employers, and alumni. Our vision is to empower students and alumni to identify and achieve individual goals for career success. Our mission is to design and deliver high-quality career services to UNT students and alumni through collaboration with campus, local and global partnerships.

Position Overview:

The Career Center Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire an Associate Director, Career Services to join our team. This position will lead employment and career readiness activity related to undergraduate student employees for the entire campus on behalf of the Career Center, and in collaboration with UNT Human Resources.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Bachelor’s Degree in related field and four years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

• Extensive knowledge of career advising and development.
• Knowledge of University operations, policies and procedures.
• Working knowledge of computer technology and applications in the career services field.
• Ability to deal tactfully with students, individually and in group situations.
• Excellent presentation and counseling skills.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
• Ability to supervise, train, and plan work of subordinates.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

· Master’s degree with related experience.· Career Education and Training experience.· Human Resources experience.· Sustaining collaborative partnerships and communications with proven results.

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm, with some evenings and weekends.

o:

*Lead activity related to UNT Student Employment on behalf of the Career Center and for the entire campus, including but not limited to managing the applicant tracking system, hiring processes, I-9 processing, background checks and ePars for all student employee hires.

o:

*Chair and oversee a student employment supervisory advisory group to ensure best practices, standards, operations, and technology align with department and student hiring needs.

o:

*Work with Sr. Career Center Leadership in developing career readiness education and training for student employment supervisors and student hires.

o:

*Consult with student employee supervisors across campus on the student employment hiring processes, employee development, and consults senior leadership in the office regarding the development of strategic planning, policies and procedures while providing leadership in the coordination, implementation, and assessment of student employment.

o:

*Collect and analyze student employment related data. Manage and distribute reports to constituents across campus including individual departments, financial aid, and Human Resources.

o:

*Develop, manage, and communicate Student Employment standards and best practices to the entire campus, including implementation audits on departments regarding hourly student employment policy.

o:

*Strengthen and manage the UNT on campus Eagle Internship Program and other experiential-learning opportunities with Internship team to assist students in developing the skills they need to be employed in their field after graduation.

o:

*Manages a team of staff, student workers, and peer mentors responsible for the function of student employment while also assisting with recruitment, hiring, training, and performance management of those staff and student team members.

o:

*Serves on Career Center Sr. Leadership team aligning student employment initiatives, and deliverables with Career Center mission, vision, and strategies and University values.

o:
