Job Description

This professional information technology position spans a wide range of support activities to ensure proper configuration and functioning of servers and desktop computers, and connectivity between systems. A degree of interaction with people is involved; therefore, sound customer service principles must be applied while fulfilling the technical duties.

Responsibilities include providing high-level support and will overlap with some duties of other IT support staff: troubleshoot and resolve problems with servers, research equipment, personal computers, workstations, laptops, peripherals, and networked systems etc.; perform hardware and software installation, configuration, upgrades, and enhancements. Primary responsibility for all UNIX research systems in Arts & Science.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

Provide Tier 2 End-user system support for the College of A&S.

Provide assistance and computing support for faculty/staff/researchers in the College of A&S.

Provide research computing support in the College of A&S.

Provide technical assistance, consultation, and direction in research technology (Hardware, software, server) for College.

Help Desk support for A&S IT. Provide immediate support by affected users via call ins, email, incoming Cherwell tickets backup for Technical Response Team.

Work Collaboratively with cross functional teams to ensure end-users equipment, servers, networked equipment, and research equipment are in working order.

Maintain liaison roll in specific College of A&S Departments to ensure information is gathered and disseminated to colleagues and leadership to meet end user needs.

Maintain hardware/software research labs computing, classroom computing, provide AV support in the College of A&S.

Shift

Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience. 5-7 Years of experience working with IT systems in comprehensive higher education environments.

Preferred Qualifications

5 years of experience in a research university setting providing IT support to faculty and staff researchers5 years of experience in a research university setting providing IT support to faculty and staff researchers

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $51,875 - $64,000 Commensurate with experience
