Job Summary:

The Research Facilitator is responsible for assisting IBR principal investigators by driving and maintaining the Mobile Health Unit and carrying out research activities to assist researchers in the Institute of Behavioral Research.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Serves as primary driver of the mobile health unit (a 26-ft long box truck).
2. Responsible for managing the maintenance of the of the mobile health unit.
3. Responsible for preparing the mobile health unit for field deployment as well as for post-deployment tasks, including cleaning and replenishing supplies after field deployment.
4. Coordinates and ensures routine mobile health unit maintenance occurs on a scheduled routine set by project staff and TCU fleet management.
5. Assists IBR investigators by participating in field-based recruiting, consenting, data collection, and intervention activities.
6. Serves as a community liaison while in the field, communicating with the public, and ensuring safety to study team and research participants.
7. Assists in scheduling research participants and sending out reminders for research and clinical intervention visits.
8. Assists in maintaining research logs and other project paperwork following protocol for protection and transmittal of data.
9. Follows established research protocols for protecting confidentiality of participants and data.
10. Communicates daily with IBR staff in accordance with study protocols and guidelines.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• 2 years' experience driving larger vehicles (CDL not required)
• 2 years of research experience

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Experience assisting with research projects.
• Completion of some college
• Experience in a behavioral health (e.g., psychology, counseling, social work) and/or criminal justice field.

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

• Must have a valid driver's license
• Must be insurable under the university motor vehicle requirements.

Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:

• None

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of basic research techniques.
• Skill in the use of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing.
• Ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

Work Environment:

• Work to be performed at or around TCU campus (combined indoors and sedentary as well as outdoors) and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours, with occasional travel.
• This role is an in-person position.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
