The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University (https://engineering.tamu.edu/electrical/index.html) invites applications for the position of department head and tenured professor. This position is a full-time tenured professor position, and holds an 11-month academic appointment, with an expected start date of no later than Spring of 2025. The department is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and visionary leader who can continue to advance the department by promoting research excellence and education. The successful applicant will be an innovative thinker with a strategic vision for guiding and promoting the department to a higher level of excellence. The candidate should be able to articulate and communicate a clear vision for the future of the department's education and research mission to a large constituency that includes current faculty, the broader academia, government, industry, and former students. Through this communication, the candidate should build commitment and support for the department from these constituent groups. The candidate should have notable accomplishments and experience in research, academic or industry leadership, and teaching. Candidates should also demonstrate a vision for supporting, directing, and enhancing the goals of the department. This leadership position includes opportunities for research, service and teaching as well as expanding the department's interdisciplinary research in emerging areas.

Department Information

As a major department within the College of Engineering with an enrollment of about 1,500 undergraduate, 300 Ph.D. and 450 master's students pursuing degrees in electrical and computer engineering, our mission is fourfold: to create new knowledge and challenge young minds by participation in the process of discovery and invention, to educate electrical and computer engineers with a solid background of fundamentals, to prepare graduates for an exciting future and to serve the society through research, education and outreach activities. The ECEN department is made up of 81 faculty (70 Tenured/Tenure Track and 11 Academic Professional Track), having 8 National Academy members. Candidates must have an earned doctorate in engineering or science discipline closely related to electrical and computer engineering, with a proven track record of scholarly achievement and administrative leadership in academia, industry, or government that merit appointment at the rank of full professor with tenure. The position requires dedication to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education and commitment to faculty and students.
