The State of Connecticut Judicial Branch is seeking qualified individual for the position of Assistant Clerk, JD/GA. The successful candidate will be accountable for independently performing a full range of tasks in reviewing and processing a variety of court documents and performing other administrative duties. 

Examples of duties: Reviews, evaluates, and processes a variety of files, motions, orders, and judgments in civil, criminal, family, and housing areas; monitors compliance with applicable statutes, case law, and rules of court; schedules pre-trial and trial calendars; notifies involved parties of case status and court decisions; may review and schedule special proceedings; may act as caseflow coordinator and assume responsibility for monitoring civil, criminal, or family assignment lists; may prepare and distribute short calendar; may arrange for transportation of prisoners; may oversee administrative support staff in providing assistance to attorneys and pro se litigants in preparing and filing appropriate documents and to ensure accurate entry of court records and dispositions into case files; may perform daily bookkeeping record entry and reporting; may perform jury administration duties; may perform the following duties of a courtroom clerk as necessary: swears in witnesses and jurors, keeps lists of witnesses and exhibits, records dispositions and other orders of the court, prepares files for data entry or other administrative record keeping; may supervise staff, conduct performance appraisals and provide training; may act for supervisor during absences; performs related duties as required.

Salary Range: $86,941- $109,586– plus State of Connecticut benefits.

New employees begin at the minimum. The starting salary for existing state employees may be higher than the minimum, in accordance with existing Judicial Branch policy.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

General Experience: Graduation from law school. 

Substitutions Allowed: For positions in the GA, three years of experience as a Deputy Clerk, Geographical Area and Juvenile Matters may be substituted for the General Experience.
