Assistant Professor of Communication and Media Studies

Southeastern Louisiana University's Department of Communication and Media Studies invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position. The Assistant Professor will have significant industry experience in digital media, understanding the mechanics of how it is used in the commercial sphere and will be able to develop and train students in social media, digital advertising, content marketing and data analytics. We are an applied communication program with a focus on portfolio development and preparing students for meaningful work as communication strategists for industry. The skill sets we focus on are strategy and content creation. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellence in 100% online asynchronous classroom instruction and will be expected to maintain strong ties with industry to incorporate the latest pedagogical trends into the classroom and to prepare students for jobs post-graduation. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate level. They will also have the opportunity to develop new coursework, as well.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Ph.D. in Communication or a closely related field by the hire date
• The ability to teach in a 100% asynchronous online delivery format or face to face

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

• Proficient in social media, digital advertising, content marketing and data analytics
• Significant industry experience in digital media, marketing, advertising and public relation is a plus.
• Ability to interact with students and graduate faculty.
