1. Previous Experience Required:

High degree of mechanical and electrical ability.

3 years experience in hospital Biomedical Electronics and or related industries preferred.

2. Specialized or Technical Education Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent, Diploma in Biomedical Electronics or 5 years experience working in the Biomedical Electronics field required. Associate of applied technology degree in Biomedical equipment technology and/or certified biomedical technician preferred.

3. Manual or Physical Skill Required:

Environment occasionally stressful.

For insurance purposes, must be 21 years of age or older for driving North Oaks Health System’s vehicles.

4. Physical Effort Required:

Medium work – exerting 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently.

Responsibilities:

1. Under general supervision, to provide and document preventative and corrective maintenance on a variety of mechanical, electrical and electronic biomedical equipment.

2. Perform and document biomedical equipment repairs and test all new and repaired biomedical equipment before it is put into service.

3. Perform and document scheduled inspections and maintenance, and electrical safety test of biomedical equipment necessary to maintain conformance to code requirements. Investigates and recommends remedial action on incidents involving biomedical equipment.

4. Ensure that an inventory of biomedical equipment, replacement parts, and standby equipment necessary to minimize disruption of patient care is maintained.

5. Assist in training medical and nursing staff in the safe use of biomedical equipment.

6. Provide technical support on new and replacement biomedical equipment and review work performed by outside service workers.

7. Keep abreast of current developments in biomedical equipment and systems.

8. Establish and maintain courteous, cooperative relations when interacting with other personnel, health plan member and the public.

9. Maintain the “At Your Service” service request program.

10. Perform other related duties as required.

11. Follows North Oaks Health System’s Compliance Program and Federal and State Regulatory guidelines.

12. Drives North Oaks Health System’s vehicles, so therefore must maintain a current State Drivers License, while maintaining a good driving record.
